One Transport is a revolutionary concept in personal transportation. While some new products appear on the market without compelling demand, One Transport evolved in response to commercial developments.
10-15 years ago, the situation was straightforward. Major corporations moving staff around London were either reliant on black cabs or chauffeur driven cars. Transport Managers enjoyed a large measure of control over the quality of the service and the delivery of management information was simplified by the development of sophisticated billing systems.
Then the marketplace began to fragment. Car companies diversified into luxury vehicles and started to offer an executive service at non-executive prices. A complex web of service providers arose to which companies responded by reallocating their transport budget across an array of suppliers.
A number of multinational organisations now devote entire teams of in-house staff to transport arrangements. One of the key functions of such units is simply to maintain control over their own elaborate network of service providers.
A fresh approach is clearly required. The cost, personnel and resource implications of maintaining the status quo had become unacceptable. In short, something had to be done.
Shaping The Future
Instead of micromanaging a host of service providers, organisations required a single source, independent platform to deliver their transport requirements.
The new entity would act as a gatekeeper. It would sell platform, not supply. It would establish standards of service and delivery, restricting entry to those who complied. It would allocate collections and monitor performance, according to strict business rules. Specifically, it would relieve corporations of the logistical burden of personal transport, liberating staff for more productive endeavours.
Technology would be critical. Ultimately, the new organisation would create a ‘virtual fleet’, a fluid, responsive, versatile resource at the disposal of corporate customers. By way of additional benefit, the integrated solution would enable users to track the progress of their vehicles en route to collection over the Internet.
One Transport was born.
Founded On Experience
At the helm of One Transport is a team of senior individuals with an unrivalled track record in the personal transportation industry. Developing such a radical concept, gathering service providers under a single umbrella and delivering the platform to market demanded nothing less.
Each of the team has been individually hand-picked. Beneath the layer of senior management, every member of the sales staff, marketing unit and back office support team was chosen to provide differentiation.
One example illustrates the point. One Transport maintains a team of Business Analysts and Operational Strategists - unique in the personal transport industry.
Their task is to dissect the operational complexities, logistical processes and software capabilities of individual customers. Having gathered all relevant information, the team constructs a bespoke solution in line with corporate objectives.
One Transport In Practice - How It Works
Customers are provided with access to a single priority telephone number or web address, linked directly to the One Transport fleet management control room. Bookings are taken around the clock, 365 days per year. Each booking is logged and allocated, passengers receiving confirmation by e-mail, text or phone.
Patented technology sits at the core of One Transport, tracking vehicles via GPS and on-screen mapping. Customers are able to make bookings from their own PC, receiving real time information on status and position. The system also enables electronic conversations with drivers, saving time and confusion.
Business rules govern the allocation of bookings, ensuring adherence to policies on expenditure. Such rules may impact on length of journeys, destinations or vehicle choice. Once a journey is completed, each transaction is checked against business rules before being passed for payment.
From a customer’s perspective, One Transport enables organisations to consolidate billing and reduce the costs that arise from booking with assorted suppliers. Complaints and queries can be assessed against service level agreements and management information accessed online in real time. Finally, One Transport allows organisations to embed multi-fleet booking technology on in-house intranet systems.
Customer Testimonial
‘One Transport have embraced what we wanted, taken on board BBC culture and delivered something that looks really good. The system has saved £1 million of licence fee money and, overall, I am very pleased with the product’.
‘Other companies need to give serious thought to investing in this kind of technology and getting rid of their back office. Costs around capture and booking should no longer be relevant. One Transport points the way to the future’.
