LOCAL COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT & CHARITIES
As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility Programme, the Radio Taxis Group is involved with a number of Charities as well as ad hoc charitable activities.
The London Taxi Benevolent Association for War Disabled
The Company sponsors cabs, provides equipment and attends outings where taxis take old and injured soldiers on outings from Various Hospitals and homes with an annual trip to Worthing. Dame Vera Lynn is the Patron and goes on outings
London Taxi Drivers' Fund for Under Privileged Children
The Fund organises outings to Southend and the Company sponsors cabs for drivers on the Circuit. It also buys equipment and helps to sponsor the Annual children's party at the Grosvenor House Hotel.
The Worshipful Company of Hackney Carriage Drivers
The Livery Company organises an outing in Sept/Oct to take children with life threatening and chronic diseases and some of their families/carers to Disneyland in Paris. The Company lends its premises at Station Road for the Cab Drivers to decorate their cabs for the trip and also sponsors cabs. The outing is waved off by the Lord Mayor of London and proceeds in convoy with the AA, St John's Ambulance and a police motorcycle escort
This Charity helps disabled children, young people, their parents and carers by providing mobility aids; work related learning and family support services.
The Company recently sponsored an Urban Beach Volleyball Competition at Broadgate in the City. The company is sponsoring the charity in September 2010 for a 5 kilometre walk. The company is also including the charity in the Annual City of London Lord Mayor's Show on 13th November 2010. Action for kids will be decorating a mini-bus to look like a taxi.
Poole Park School (Local Primary School)
The Company has a close relationship with this school which is located next door to our HQ. Staff have gone along to the school and read to the children. We have also helped with the School Garden
The Company also donated funds to subsidise children who could not afford to participate on the annual school trip
