Sherman and Sterling

Case Study: Sherman & Sterling

Shearman & Sterling is one of the world's leading international corporate and commercial law firms. The firm maintains 19 offices across the globe including headquarters in New York, Tokyo, Paris and Frankfurt.

300 members of staff are based in London. Areas of specialisation in the UK include asset management, capital markets, commercial law, mergers and acquisitions, international litigation and project development finance.

Business Issues

Clients demand impeccable standards of legal advice from Shearman & Sterling. Business partners are expected to demonstrate the same level of professionalism, commitment and attention to detail.

In the competitive environment of legal services, partners, associates and secretaries frequently work extended hours. Meeting the needs of dedicated staff requires a network of support services that are not only available around the clock but also capable of responding to changing circumstances.

Shearman & Sterling places stringent demands on ground transportation suppliers. Journeys may include collecting partners from airports, UK lawyers travelling abroad, paralegals en route to meetings or clients returning to their offices. Taxis must be prompt, clean and secure.

Working Together

Shearman & Sterling has worked in tandem with Radio Taxis Group (RTG) for more than four years. Cars and cabs are allocated for a variety of journeys ranging from travel to meetings to airport collections and client transfers.

The vast majority of bookings are on an ASAP basis. Shearman & Sterling switched from their previous suppliers due to complaints about the discomfort of travelling (and trying to work) in an SUV and lack of service flexibility.  RTG is on call around the clock to ensure safe passage home at any time for all members of staff.

Shearman & Sterling are corporate patrons at The Tate Gallery in London SE1 and stage events at the venue from time to time. RTG is entrusted with responsibility for transport arrangements on such occasions, providing marshals where volume of traffic demands. A similar role is undertaken at Christmas parties. RTG organises transfers by coach from office to the venue and pre-booked cabs to take partygoers home.

Detailed management information is essential for corporate clients. RTG provides Shearman & Sterling with a comprehensive daily breakdown of services, enabling the client to monitor SLAs and allocate charges for journeys. Open and honest communication is fundamental to the relationship. Representatives from Shearman & Sterling and RTG meet on a monthly basis to clarify service issues, discuss process improvements and propose fresh ideas going forward

Testimonial

"My expectations are high. I expect professionalism and personal attention from a supplier, I expect consistency, reliability and effective delivery of the service they are contracted to provide. That's what I get from RTG.

Their people are super-responsive. RTG are quick to react whenever issues arise. Lawyers expect nothing less because it is how they work themselves and their instant feedback is key to our relationship.

RTG has developed an understanding of our business over time as we have of theirs. I recently signed a 2 year extension to our contract because I am very happy with the service and saw it as being to my advantage to build on the relationship.'
